Introducing Our Practice Team

At Dore & Totley Veterinary we are committed to helping pet owners understand how better pet care can extend the lives of our furry companions and also save money.  Our small, friendly team of experienced staff are always happy to provide help and advice.

James Farrell
James Farrell
Veterinary Surgeon
BVetMed CertSAS MRCVS

James opened Dore & Totley Veterinary practice in March of 2010. Since qualifying from the Royal Veterinary College in 1998, he has gained a wealth of experience working in both charity and private veterinary practices. Caring for and fixing a large number of dogs and cats during this time enabled him to attain a Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons Postgraduate Qualification Certificate in Small Animal Surgery in 2007, representing achievement at a certain level above and beyond a standard veterinary qualification.

Consequently, James' particular interests do lie with putting animals back together again after unfortunate accidents or in dealing with large and complex cancer cases, but he is also at home in the consulting room and loves to meet the family pet whatever the problem.

At home he has four dogs of his own, three cats, four young hens to supply the eggs for the morning and two lovely guinea pigs that his two sons and daughter absolutely adore.

Hi, my name is Tamara and I am one of the nurses here at Dore and Totley. I'm originally from down south but moved up north to follow my dream of working with animals. I qualified early 2017 and I have never looked back! Back home I have a beautiful little french bulldog called Cooper who I absolutely adore. Here we are like a family, and they've made this feel like home. I am a vegan and very passionate about the planet, and I love cuddles with all of your tiny little babies!

Veterinary Receptionist

Hi, my name is Shannon and I am one of the receptionists here at Dore and Totley Vets. I was originally a pharmacy dispenser for some years, but I came here to do a job I enjoy. I love the people I work with and getting to see all your cute pets and building a relationship with our clients (human or not!). At home I have my adorable rescue staffordshire bull terrier Keaton and my springer spaniel Toby, and throughout the years I've more than my fair share of experience with dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, fish, birds, cattle, lambs and horses! I can't wait to meet you all and maybe even get a picture with you!
